Category: Continuing Education

This is a unique opportunity to participate in a learning exploration led by two seasoned hospice acupuncturists— Gwen LoVetere and Susan Wilmoth. We will focus on cultivating the skills and inner resources needed to serve hospice patients. This will be a participatory deep-dive learning experience, exploring a range of topics, including the following:

  • Working in the context of hospice care
  • Gleaning information from patients in advanced disease processes— pulses, touch, & more
  •  Modalities we have found to be useful in working with this unique population including Acupuncture, Acupressure, Teishin and Enshin
  •  Mindfulness-based self inquiry of how we relate with death, dying, and loss and how that informs the care we give at the bedside
  •  Tending to one’s own nervous system while caring for others
  • What it’s like to lose every patient & tools for metabolizing loss in a healthy way

In January of 2019, Susan & Gwen began leading a 6 month Hospice Acupuncture Group Mentorship, to which the response was overwhelmingly positive. This weekend training was created to make much of the content of the mentorship course accessible to those for whom an ongoing class is not practical or preferred.
