Research in the Curriculum



As our mission statement suggests, our students engage in innovate research within a community of service and healing as part of the educational experience at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Master's students take courses in acupuncture and Oriental medicine research throughout the program. They learn how to implement a search strategy, locate published articles, determine if a research study has been well designed and create a pilot study using the NIH grant-writing format.  Master’s students also explore the importance of research for enhancing the credibility of acupuncture.

Doctoral students learn to critically evaluate published research and incorporate research findings into clinical practice, as well as develop skills in the design and implementation of clinical research studies.
