Interlibrary Loan

Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service assists students and faculty in obtaining journal articles from other libraries.  Please see questions and answers below for more information.

Q. How many articles may I request through the Interlibrary Loan Service?
A.
Students have a limit of thirty articles per semester.  If additional articles are needed, please discuss this with either the librarian or library assistant.

Q. How long does it take to receive an ILL article?
A.
It depends on the lending library. Sometimes you will receive the article in a day or two, often it can take longer.  Sometimes we receive the article electronically, please let the library assistant know if she can email the articles to you

Q. How much does it cost?
A.
Most often we receive articles for free, so it is free for you.  If we are charged for the article, the library will pay the charge.  Students will not be charged unless they have accrued over $50.00 in fees, per year, that the library has paid.  After the library has paid the first $50.00 in fees for the student, the student will be charged for additional articles we pay for.

Q. How do I request and receive an ILL article?
1. Find out if the OCOM library owns the journal.  If we don't own the journal, or have access to it full text, please fill out an interlibrary loan request form.
2.The interlibrary loan request forms are available in the library.  Submit the completed form to the person working at the Circulation/Information Desk. Please include your contact information, and an email address if you will receive the article electronically.
3. Pick up the article in the library.  We will notify you to let you know it has arrived.  Or, we can send it to you via email if you prefer.
