Program Format

Our doctoral program is a 1,228-hour, 26-month program offered through a series of on-campus modules, which take place regularly in Portland. Modules occur over a four-day weekend every 4 to 5 weeks, and students travel from all over the country to attend. Our flexible format makes it possible for a busy acupuncturist to maintain a practice while pursuing their doctoral degree. Click here for more information on traveling to Portland.

A variety of didactic and clinical material is taught in each module. Between modules, students complete assignments including homework assignments, clinical case studies, a professional development elective course, and capstone research projects. We offer a 2-month break mid-way through the program.

In the second year of the program, students complete 150 hours of elective clinical experiences, which may include up to six weeks of externship study in China.

Our library offers a variety of services to doctoral students because of the non-residency nature of the program.
