Intern Teaching Clinic Student interns in the master’s degree program provide care under the supervision of licensed, experienced college instructors and clinical supervisors. Interns diagnose and treat patients with acupuncture and other adjunctive therapies like Chinese herbs, Oriental therapeutic massage, and moxibustion. Students also give recommendations on diet, exercise, and lifestyle issues.
Herbal Clinic Student interns develop herbal formulas using Chinese herbs from our on-site dispensary. These formulas are customized to patients’ symptoms and needs under the supervision of licensed acupuncturists.
Oriental Therapeutic Massage Clinic Master’s degree students provide shiatsu or tuina under the supervision of licensed professionals. Patients wear loose, comfortable clothing and are treated in a large room among other massage clients. We encourage patients to try both styles in order to determine which is best for them. Tuina is a Chinese style of massage that incorporates kneading, pressing, rolling, shaking, and stretching. Shiatsu is a Japanese style of massage that involves the stimulation of various pressure points using fingers, hands, and arms.
Group Seated Treatment Clinic Supervised interns administer acupuncture to a number of individuals simultaneously, as clients relax in reclining chairs. Group treatments are ideal for those who want to receive regular acupuncture care at a discounted rate. Individuals are eligible for a group treatment if they have been seen as a patient in the Intern Teaching Clinic within the last 12 months.
Faculty Practice Clinic Experienced, on-staff acupuncturists offer one-on-one specialty care for patients with complex and chronic conditions. These practitioners have years of experience treating patients and are skilled in cases requiring specialized knowledge and care. To schedule an appointment with a practitioner in the Faculty Practice Clinic, please call 503-253-3443 x146.
Weekend Specialty Clinics Experienced acupuncturists in our doctoral program draw upon their collective experiences to tackle particularly complex cases. Topics include autoimmune and immune disorders, women’s health, disorders associated with aging, mental and emotional disorders and gastrointestinal disorders, just to name a few.
